Maine poet Julia Bouwsma will give a talk about the process of writing creative work based on real historical events. Bouwsma is the author of the 2019 Maine Literary Award-winning poetry collection "Midden," which explores the state of Maine’s 1912 racially-motivated, forcible eviction and erasure of the Malaga Island community.

This event is co-sponsored by the Bangor Public Library and Maine Writers and Publishers Alliance. It is funded in part by a grant from the Maine Bicentennial Commission.
