Staying Above Water
631 Stevens Avenue
Greater Portland Landmarks will mark the Maine bicentennial with a day-long symposium about the impact of climate change on our state’s historic buildings, homes, and sites as rising sea levels and the increasing intensity of storms pose unprecedented challenges to the cultural and natural heritage of Maine. Bringing together organizations and community leaders working to understand and mitigate the effects of climate change, Staying Above Water will highlight the impact climate change is already having on historic buildings and discuss strategies for future adaptation.
The event will feature panel discussions, a reception, and a keynote lecture by noted author and climate change expert Jeff Goodell.
This symposium is supported in part by a Maine Bicentennial Commission Project Grant.
