Public Potluck Supper on Maine Bicentennial Weekend

This potluck supper will be held at the Bibby & Harold Alfond Dining Commons at Kents Hill School starting at 6 p.m, doors open at 5:30. NO FEE. Guests are encouraged to bring a hot dish or salad. Co-sponsored by Readfield Historical Society, The Readfield Community Library, and The Readfield Age Friendly Committee. David Cheever, Vice Chair of the Maine Bicentennial Commission will be the featured speaker. Dale Potter-Clark will speak briefly about some highlights of Readfield's history and a representative from Kents Hill School will speak about the school's history was well. Of note, The first board of directors and Luther Sampson (the founder) of Kents Hill School submitted a request to the Maine State Legislature, at its very first session in 1821 as a new State, to be incorporated as the “Readfield Religious and Charitable Organization” The bill passed on February 26, 1821 and was signed by William S. Williamson, Speaker of the House; approved by Gov. William King on February 28, 1821; and attested by Arthur Ware, Secretary of State on March 5, 1821.
